East Belfast — For more than 10 years, fifth-grade students at East Belfast School have helped support the Greater Bay Area Ministerium's Food Cupboard at Belfast United Methodist Church.

This year, with the guidance of their teacher, Erin Ireland, the fifth grade continued that tradition. They held a major fundraiser, a holiday bazaar and a food drive. The result: East Belfast students raised $837.55 and donated five boxes of food!

All of the teachers and students at the school participated in the effort. The students made the donation to the Food Cupboard Dec. 21.

The GBAM Food Cupboard provides food to those in need every other week. In 2018, distributions will be made on the second and fourth Friday mornings of each month, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., in the back of the church at 23 Mill Lane, East Belfast.

There will be a special additional distribution on Saturday morning, Jan. 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. The Food Cupboard’s phone number is 218-1213.
