Sears Island, Sears Island Road off Route 1 just east of Searsport. Sandra Mitchell will discuss and help attendees look for some of the plants that can be found and harvested throughout coastal Maine. She will also address "sustainable" gathering and other general guidelines for obtaining edibles from nature. This free class is designed for beginners with minimal foraging experience. All are welcome.

Mitchell is a registered Maine recreation guide and certified CyberTracker wildlife tracker. She is an avid birder, and is interested in all naturalist studies. Her website is https://www.wildlynxnature.com/

Park along the causeway and meet at the kiosk near the island gate by 9 a.m. Wear footwear appropriate for walking in the woods and on the beach, and clothing to protect against ticks and the weather. Bring water, a snack, and insect repellent. No pets. In the event of steady rain, the program will be cancelled.
