Free parenting class starts June 5

Belfast — Community Partnerships for Protecting Children's Family Resource HUB and the Waldo Child & Parent Council will offer a free parent education class, Active Parenting, First Five Years, beginning June 5. All are welcome.

Parents of children from newborn to age 5 attending this four-week class will learn information on their child’s temperament and how to teach self-calming methods. Parents will learn ways to strengthen their relationships with their children while also encouraging positive behavior. Information on brain development will be discussed, along with the ages and stages of child development.

First Five Years will be presented in four two-hour classes June 5, 12, 19 and 26 at the Belfast Family Resource HUB, 8 Court St. (Spring Street entrance), from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A light meal will be served, and childcare is available. Everything is free.

Broadreach is the representative of the Waldo County Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Council of Maine, delivering programs supported by the Department of Health & Human Services and Maine Children’s Trust.
