Free parenting course for parents, caretakers of children

Waldo County Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Council offers ‘Christian Active Parenting’

Belfast — The Waldo County Child Abuse Prevention Council will offer "Christian Active Parenting," a free, six-week parenting course that will help parents and caretakers of children ages 5-12 with many of the challenges of parenting in a demanding world. Free childcare will also be available.

Taught by parent educator Helen Rogers, Christian Active Parenting combines the best in proven parenting techniques with the wisdom of the Christian faith. Classes will meet for two hours, once a week for six weeks.

The course will focus on encouragement, communication and nonviolent discipline, while incorporating scripture and Christian family scenarios.

Broadreach Family & Community Services is offering the program in collaboration with the First Baptist Church, located at 95 High St. Classes start Tuesday, April 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A light meal will be served.
