Free showing of 'Marigold Hotel' for seniors Feb. 15

Belfast — On Friday, Feb. 15, the Belfast Senior Center, in cooperation with Belfast Free Library, invites all area seniors to a free showing of "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."

The movie follows the adventures of several British retirees who decide to move to India to stay in the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which has been advertised as an exotic retirement home.

This British comedy-drama film was directed by John Madden who also directed "Shakespeare in Love." The screenplay is based on the 2004 novel "These Foolish Things," by Deborah Moggach, and features an ensemble cast with Dame Judi Dench, Celia Imrie, Bill Nighy, Ronald Pickup, Dame Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson and Penelope Wilton. The Golden Globe Awards nominated the film for Best Movie and Best Actress-Comedy.

Doors open to the Belfast Free Library Abbott Room,106 High St., at 12:45 p.m. The movie begins promptly at 1 p.m. Should weather conditions prompt a cancellation, the movie will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Belfast Senior Center is open Tuesdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Belfast United Methodist Church, 23 Mill Lane, East Belfast. The center is open for cards, games, bridge, puzzles and conversation all Tuesdays, weather permitting, at no charge. Free coffee and tea are always available and visitors are encouraged to stay as long as they wish and bring a bag lunch and a senior friend.
