“Warren Miller’s Line of Descent” travels the globe, exploring the ties that bind ski culture.

Belfast — The first Belfast Winter Whoopla includes free community performances and adventure movies in downtown Belfast.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., there are performances yet to be announced on the big stage of the Crosby Center, 96 Church St., sponsored in part by Airwaves, Inc. On Sunday, Feb. 25, there will be an hour-long modern dance performance at noon, followed from 2 to 2:30 p.m. by local strumming group the Midcoast Ukes (sponsored in part by Airwaves, Inc.).

Also both days, at 4 p.m., the Colonial Theatre, 163 High St., will present a free screening of “Warren Miller’s Line of Descent” (2017, USA), sponsored by Sidecountry Sports, Colburn Shoe Co. and The Colonial. Miller, famed ski filmmaker and spokesperson for the sport, died last month at age 93. “Line of Descent” is Warren Miller Entertainment’s 68th full-length feature film and follows snow sport athletes descending some of the world’s deepest lines in Jackson Hole, Silverton, the French Alps, Montana, New Zealand, British Columbia and beyond.
