Fresh veggies

Villageside Farm (122 Belfast Road in Freedom) is open for another season of fresh, organically grown vegetables. But only on Tuesdays, from 4 to 6 p.m.!

They welcome you to stop in during those hours and pick up your fresh, in-season vegetables for the week. They are only fresher if you grow them yourself!  Polly and Prentice would be happy to see you there and appreciate the support of their farm.

Disneyland in Freedom Parade & Community Event

The Freedom Rec. Committee is planning a community event in Freedom on Saturday, Aug. 17. It will consist of a parade, a chicken barbecue, events in the park, games and a whole lot more. The theme of the Freedom Parade is Disneyland in Freedom.

We are looking for people who would like to participate in the parade, set up in the park, maybe do pictures with the kids, meet the Disney characters, and we want to make this the focal point of the event. Interested in wearing a costume, meeting with kids, set up your area to have pictures done, build a float and be part of this special day for the children? We invite all those who want to participate, such as bands, antique cars, fire trucks, floats (Disney or whatever your heart and dreams decide to make, different town activities such as Boy Scout troops, Little League), marchers, political figures, veterans, farmers, farm equipment, farm animals, any and all kinds of organizations, horses, racecars, all those who participate in sports, and the list goes on.

The line-up will start at 9 a.m. on Bryant Road and the parade will start at 10 a.m. It will go down Bryant Road, cross over Route 137 onto Pleasant Street, and end in the park. The chicken barbecue will be held in the park and will start when the parade is over. Boat parade at Freedom Pont at 11 a.m. If you are interested, please call Cindy Abbott at 382-6177 or Sallyann Hadyniak at 382-6024.

That is all for this week folks. Stay cool and safe, be kind to your neighbor, and God bless!
