On Saturday, May 8, Dirigo Grange will be conducting a Mother's Day Bake Sale at the Dirigo Grange Hall on Route 137, Freedom Village. The sale will begin at 9 a.m. and go until 1 p.m. There will be homemade pies, fudge, assorted sweets, homemade baked beans and biscuits. Masks and social distancing will be in practice. Please come and support your local Grange, and contact Lois at 382-3315 if you have any questions.

Notices have been sent for the town’s sale of a tax-acquired property at 250 Greeley Road (across the entrance to Beaver Ridge Road). Bids may be sent via certified check or money order to the Freedom Town office. Bids will be opened, reviewed, and awarded by the selectmen on May 3 at 6 p.m. Contact the Town Office for more information.

I received this notice from Mount View Little League Coach Kevin Richards:

Mount View Little League news

We will be holding signups and tryouts for Mount View Little League/Liberty Montville Farm Team on Saturday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Freedom field. For Little League, players 10-12 from the towns of Knox, Thorndike, Freedom, Unity, Troy, Liberty and Montville are encouraged to try out. For Liberty/Montville, players 7-12 are eligible to participate, with a strong encouragement for the 10-to-12-year-olds to try out for the Mount View Little League Team. If unable to attend the signup/tryout, please contact Coach Kevin Richards at 249-2918 for text or call, or email to kevinrichardskr65@gmail.com. Looking forward to getting back out on the field and saying “Ducks on the Pond.” The season will start a little bit later this year because of COVID (tentative dates are May 18 to June 26). I will know exact dates after the coaches' meeting May 4.

If any parents are interested in being an assistant coach, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. We are also looking for donations to help with new uniform and equipment costs. We have to buy all new bats to meet new Little League specifications. We are selling MV baseball hats for $20 each. Please reach out if you would like to order any.

Parents:

Please register your player online at waldocountyll.org prior to signups/tryouts. The $30 registration fee and $3 service fee will be charged at checkout when doing online registrations. This money will go to Waldo County Little League to cover our league dues. Any money that is above and beyond the dues required will be refunded by Waldo County Little League to the individual teams to be used for equipment, hats, uniforms, and field liner expenses.

We still want you to fill out the paper form in person on Saturday so that we can get numbers and decide placement for each player. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me on Facebook Messenger, the Waldo County Facebook page, cellphone (249-2918), or email at kevin.richardskr65@gmail.com.

That’s it for me this week!
