Belfast — April’s Remakes and Originals themed Friday Flix film series continues at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. Films are screened Fridays at 7 p.m. in the library's Abbott Room. Admission is free.

Hosts Karen Gleeson and Paul Sheridan have scheduled their calls on original vs. remakes. On April 20, they will show “The Beguiled” (2017, USA). Both the 1971 original and this remake tell of the unexpected arrival of a wounded Union soldier at a girl’s school in Virginia during the American Civil War, which leads to jealousy and betrayal. The original was edgier, but this one is preferred for being more subtle.

The R-rated film runs 93 minutes. This month’s series will conclude April 27 with “The Entertainer” (1960, UK).
