Stephen King vs. asylum

Fright at the Fort invites theme vote

Feb 02, 2018
What will be the spooky theme this October at the Fort Knox Historic Site? Tallied votes will tell.

Prospect — Fright at the Fort, Maine’s largest Halloween-themed annual event, sponsored by the Friends of Fort Knox, is giving Fright lovers a chance to select this year’s theme. The Friends began this process on its Fright at the Fort Facebook page several months ago; many people responded with a variety of suggestions for a Fright theme including creepy dolls, children of the corn, vampires, carnival freak show, Frankenfort, insects and revenge of the plants.

After the initial round of responses, the Fright theme suggestions were narrowed down to five categories of Stephen King stories theme, asylum, dragon’s den, home for the holidays and creepy dolls/kids. After another round of Facebook voting, it became clear to Fright organizers that two concepts were emerging as the overall top leaders in a close vote.

The top two Fright themes that emerged were Stephen King and asylum themes. Fright organizers are hosting a final runoff vote on these themes. Fright enthusiasts may vote in the runoff by visiting the Fright at the Fort Facebook page by Friday, Feb. 16. The theme receiving the top votes will be the 2018 Fright at the Fort theme. Voters are asked to submit only one vote.
