Belfast — Belfast Police tonight arrested a Georgia man wanted in Bangor for "acting inappropriately with females," according to a news release from the Bangor Police Department.

Charged with assault and unlawful sexual touching is Serdest Ozilice, 23, of Savannah, Ga. He is being held in Penobscot County Jail.

According to the press release, detectives from the Hampden and Bangor police departments worked throughout the day June 24 on the investigation of a male in a dark SUV whom detectives were able to identify as Ozilice. Detectives spoke with him by phone and encouraged him to meet with them.

"Mr. Ozilice did not wish to meet with the detectives and he indicated that he was leaving the state," the news release said. As a result, a temporary warrant was issued for his arrest.

Belfast Police received a description of the vehicle and plate number, according to Chief Gerald Lincoln, along with a tip that the suspect could be in the local area.

Officers patrolling the city Wednesday night came across Ozilice’s car and performed a routine traffic stop. Police learned the driver was the wanted individual and placed him in custody without incident.

They transferred him to detectives of the Bangor Police Department, who took Ozilice to the Penobscot County Jail. The charges against him stem from one of the reported incidents that occurred in Bangor, the press release said.

Police said the matter is still under investigation and no further information is currently available.
