Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce volunteer Gil Leslie holds the "official expression of sentiment" from the 128th Legislature, honoring him for 20 years of service. Leslie was recognized at a chamber gathering June 15.
Belfast —
Gil Leslie of Belfast was honored at a volunteer welcome gathering June 15 at the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce for his 20 years of volunteering  in the chamber’s downtown Visitor Center.
Leslie received two certificates of recognition — one from the chamber and the other a legislative expression of sentiment — as well as a Maine State flag that had been flown over the state Capitol, a gift from Senate President Mike Thibodeau’s office.
The sentiment reads:
"Senate President Mike Thibodeau would like to recognize Gilbert (Gil) Leslie of Belfast for twenty years of volunteer service to the Belfast Chamber of Commerce. Gil has served his community by staffing the Belfast Visitor’s Center, providing advice on where to eat,  where to stay, find the best cup of coffee or what do to for an afternoon in Waldo County.  His sense of humor has entertained many people with stories about local lore and where to find the best lobster roll. We wish to thank Gil for his tireless dedication in helping to make the area a destination for visitors."
