GOP Candidates' Rolling 4th Observance, Food Drive

Waldo County candidates for Maine Senate and House will conduct a food drive as part of a rolling observance of the 244th anniversary of U.S. independence.

Residents are invited to break out "Old Glory" and make some noise and show support along the route.

The “parade alternative” will pass through the majority of towns in the county and make stops at several locations where they will be accepting non-perishable food donations. Residents are asked to come out to assist neighbors in need.

The route begins at 11:30 a.m., following the Brooks Independence Day observance at the town's Veterans' Memorial at 10 a.m.

Participating candidates are Col. Duncan Milne, Rep. MaryAnne Kinney, Jessica Connor, Katrina Smith, and Rep. Sherm Hutchins.

Residents can make food donations at the following locations and times:

10-11:30 a.m., Brooks Veterans' Memorial.

Route passes through Knox Center, 11:40 a.m.

11:50 a.m.-12:10 p.m., Unity Volunteer Regional Food Pantry, 180 Depot St., Unity.

Route passes through Burnham, 12:26 p.m.; Troy, 12:41 p.m.; Jackson, 12:54 p.m.; Monroe, 1:04 p.m.; Winterport, 1:20 p.m.

1:22-1:40 p.m., Mt. Waldo Plastics, 178 Main Road N., Frankfort.

Route passes through Prospect, 1:53 p.m.; Stockton Springs, 2 p.m.

2:05-2:25 p.m., Hamilton Marine, 155 E. Main St., Searsport.

2:30-2:50 p.m., Randall Collins VFW, 34 Field St., Belfast.

Route passes through Lincolnville, 3:08 p.m.; Searsmont, 3:26 p.m.; Belmont, 3:30 p.m.

3:33-3:53 p.m., Crossroads to Calvary Food Pantry, 1106 Augusta Road, Morrill.

Route passes through Morrill, 4:06 p.m.; Montville, 4:13 p.m.

4:26-5 p.m., Lake St. George Brewing Co., 4 Marshall Shore Road, Liberty.

Route passes through Liberty, 4:21 p.m.
