Rockport, Maine - The halls of the Shepherd Block building, home of Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School in Rockport, Maine, will now be filled with the sounds of a Young Chang baby grand piano. The new temporary home for the piano was made possible by Stuart & Marianne Smith, and their son Tyler, who have loaned it to Bay Chamber for student lessons and performances.

The piano was recently moved from a second-floor loft apartment, owned by the Smiths, located at 22 Central St., above Seafolk Coffee Shop, to its new home in the former Maine Media Workshops retail space next to 18 Central Oyster Bar & Grill. The use of this former retail space is also being loaned by the Smiths for Bay Chamber to use for student lessons and musical gatherings. The piano’s eventual final home will be the lobby of the Rockport Harbor Hotel, now under construction next door, which is slated to open in the spring of 2022.

“We are grateful to the Smiths for this additional lesson space as the Music School has been outgrowing our current studios in the building over the past couple of years. And use of the piano is an added bonus”, says Monica Kelly, Executive Director of Bay Chamber Concerts.
