The Meadow Brook Preserve in Swanville will be the site of a guided hike Oct. 21.

Camden — Coastal Mountains Land Trust Stewardship Project Manager Hale Morrell leads a hike Oct. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Hauk-Fry Trail at Meadow Brook Preserve in Swanville. This 2-mile flat trail wanders through regenerating mixed forests and ends at the rock dam on the shores of Hurds Pond, an ideal spot to stop for a moment, enjoy the autumn colors, and look out for wildlife.

Register for the hike by calling the land trust at 236-7091 or e-mail halem@coastalmountains.org. Participants are encouraged to bring water, layers, and binoculars.

Directions from Route 1 in Belfast: Take Route 137 exit on Route 1. Go straight across to High Street. Head north on High Street for approximately 1.8 miles, then take a slight right onto Oak Hill Road. In 2 miles, the Hauk-Fry Tract will be on the right, park along the road.
