'Handmade' holiday bazaar, exhibition open at Waterfall Arts

Nov 22, 2019

Belfast — Waterfall Arts’ annual "Handmade" art and craft show and sale returns to the Clifford Gallery for its eighth year on Friday, Dec. 6, with a sparkling opening party that all are welcome to attend. The 5 to 8 p.m. event will be jolly with refreshments and food. Young artists from the after school art programs at Waterfall Arts will be in the Bridge Studio creating one-of-a-kind, artful wrapping paper for purchases.

"Handmade" is a juried show that includes work from artists and makers from all over Maine and beyond. Proceeds from sales benefit both the vendors and Waterfall Arts. For "Handmade," the Clifford Gallery is transformed into a modern marketplace complete with displays and racks full of a variety of wares, including finely made glass, ceramics, jewelry, prints, drawings, paintings, sculptures, specialty foods, soaps, tea, cards, textiles, journals, clothing, décor and more. Efforts have been made to keep prices low; almost everything is less than $100, with the majority well below that.

"Handmade" continues through Sunday, Dec. 22, at the 256 High St. location. Hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

Also opening on Friday, Dec. 6, is "Den of Wizards," a printmaking exhibition by Shawn Brewer. The exhibition will be in Waterfall Arts' Corridor Gallery through Dec. 22.

Exhibitions at Waterfall Arts are made possible by yearlong Lead Sponsors Viking Lumber and Whitecap Builders. Additional support is provided by foundations such as the Onion Foundation and Morton Kelly Charitable Trust.
