Harborside Harmony

Lincolnville — The public is invited to a concert by Harborside Harmony Sunday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m. at the United Christian Church, 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173, in Lincolnville Center.

Harborside Harmony is a local women's barbershop chorus directed by Kate Howell.  The chorus sings in four part a cappella harmony and has a repertoire that spans 100 years of music, including "Over the Rainbow," What a Wonderful World," "San Francisco Bay Blues" and  "I Believe." Their signature song, "Harborside Harmony," was written by former director Mary Chamberlain.

Harborside Harmony has been singing together for 20 years and is always well received at the Maine Lobster Festival, Union Fair, church fundraisers, Masonic Lodges and the Lincolnville Spring Fling. The group especially enjoys performing at local nursing homes and seeing the pleasure their music brings the residents.

Harborside Harmony welcomes women who love to sing to join. The group rehearses at 7 p.m. every non-holiday Monday in the Activities Room of Rockland’s Knox Center for Long Term Care.

There will be a reception following the concert, in the Community Building next to the church.  Both buildings are handicapped accessible.  There will be a free-will donation to benefit the Music Ministry, enabling the church to sponsor future concerts. For more information, call 785-3521.
