The Waldo County Trails Coalition is looking for individuals to steward sections of the 46-mile Hills to Sea Trail. The trail extends from Belfast to Unity, and trail sections range in length from a half-mile to more than 4 miles.

The task involves walking a trail section four times a year between April and October, clearing light debris and freshening paint blazes. A handsaw and loppers are the only tools needed. Large limbs and downed trees are taken care of by trail crew members with chainsaws. All volunteers will receive training.

For more information about being a volunteer trail steward, email Buck O’Herin at buckoherin@fairpoint.net.
