Historical society offers Kosti Ruohomaa photo talk

BELFAST — “The Photography of Kosti Ruohomaa” is the topic for the Belfast Historical Society meeting on Monday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. Kevin Johnson, photo archivist at the Penobscot Marine Museum, will present photographs from the recently acquired Kosti Ruohomaa collection. Kosti photographed assignments all over North America and Europe for magazines such as Look, Life, National Geographic and Ladies Home Journal. His Maine photographs captured the spirit and culture of the island and coastal communities in the mid-20th century.

In conjunction with this talk, an exhibit of “Kosti Comes Home” photographs will be on display in the library’s Kramer Gallery.
