Homeless vets benefit concert Aug. 26

Debbie Myers and friends present a “Home is where the heart is” country concert to benefit Maine homeless veterans on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Myers residence, 25 Nash Drive, Chelsea.  Gates open at noon ,and 11 a.m. for VIP ticket guests.  Tickets: $22 for general admission; $45 for VIP, which includes choice of seating and a meal.

Entertainment will be provided by Debbie Myers, Debbie Morin, The Mainely Country Band, Bobby Reed & The Wild Horse Band, Lisa & Buzz Overlock, Canada’s Flo Durelle, Fred Thompson and the talented House Band.

Maine Hire-A-Vet Career Fair

The Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign 2018 kicks off Thursday, Aug. 30, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a Career Fair at the Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Drive, Augusta.

The goal of this event is to help at least 100 employers recruit and hire at least 100 veterans and military family members over 100 days. This no-cost hiring fair is open to veterans, military families and the public.

This event is hosted by the Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign, Maine Bureau of Veteran Services, Live & Work Maine, and the Maine Department of Labor.

Maine Veterans’ Art Show

The Maine Arts Commission and VA Maine Healthcare Recreational Therapy Services are proud to sponsor the 2018 Veterans' Art Show in the Capitol Complex in Augusta. This show will run from Sept. 4 to Nov. 30. Come and see some amazing artwork created by some amazing veteran artists.

On Nov. 30, there will be a celebration ceremony from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Hall of Flags at the State House that is free and open to the public.
