Hutchins elected in House District 131

Nov 06, 2018

In the district currently represented by Dedham Republican Karl Ward, who dropped his re-election bid early in the process, two candidates sought to replace him.

Ward endorsed fellow Republican Sherman Hutchins of Penobscot, who has previously run for public office and served in the Legislature years ago. Newcomer Nathalie Arruda of Orland, a Democrat, hoped her first foray into politics as a candidate would see her emerge victorious.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Hutchins won the five precincts in Hancock County with a total vote of 1,847 to 1,571. Additionally, as shown below, Hutchins prevailed in Waldo County with 621 total votes to Arruda's 587.

The district includes the Waldo County towns of Prospect and Stockton Springs, as well as five Hancock County towns.

Results shown below are for Prospect and Stockton Springs only, and do not reflect the overall outcome of the race.
