'In House' exhibit at Waterfall Arts

Jan 15, 2020

Belfast — On Friday, Jan. 24, Waterfall Arts will hold an opening reception for the "In House: 2020 Denizen" exhibit in the Corridor Gallery. The reception begins at 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

What is a denizen, you ask? Denizen = an inhabitant or occupant of a particular place. A Waterfall Arts Denizen = a volunteer, private studio artist, teacher, public studio monitor, studio subscriber, staff member, board member. "In House" showcases work created by Waterfall's community of denizens over the past year.

The opening reception for "In House" provides an opportunity to learn more about Waterfall Arts and meet some of the people involved in Belfast’s own community art center, while taking in thought-provoking and engaging artwork. The "In House" exhibit will be on view from Jan. 24 through Feb. 21. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. or by appointment.

Exhibitions at Waterfall Arts are made possible by yearlong Lead Sponsors Viking Lumber and Whitecap Builders. Additional support is provided by foundations such as the Onion Foundation, Morton Kelly Charitable Trust, and the Maine Arts Commission.

Launched in 2000, Waterfall Arts is a community arts center that offers resources to students, professionals and arts enthusiasts of all ages. Opportunities include classes, exhibitions, art events, performances, open community studios (clay, print and darkroom photography), public art projects and more.

Waterfall Arts is located at 256 High St. For more information, visit waterfallarts.org or call 338-2222.
