Belfast Mayor Samantha Paradis talks with former Mayor Monroe "Mike" Hall in the council chambers at City Hall Nov. 13 after a swearing in ceremony for elected officials. Paradis, in her first bid for office, defeated longtime Mayor Walter Ash.

Another former "Mayor Mike," Ward 4 City Councilor Mike Hurley, right, was sworn in along with Ward 3 Councilor Eric Sanders. Both ran unopposed and are starting their fifth terms on the council.

Congrats Ms Paradis!!!  Your work ethic in your campaign, continuing into your first term, should inspire the City!!  I look forward to positive changes while reducing taxes.  A challenge, YES, however your work ethic should prove positive.  Good luck!
