Island awards snow plowing contract to sole bidder

Islesboro — The Select Board awarded the town's snow plowing contract for five years beginning Sept. 1 to Paul Hatch, the sole bidder, for a cost of $190,000 per year at its Feb. 18 meeting. Town Administrator Janet Anderson said Hatch has had the contract previously.
She said this year's town meeting, like last year's, will be by referendum ballot because of COVID-19 meeting restrictions. It is expected to take place in late May or June, along with the election of at least one Select Board member, with Chairman Gabe Pendleton's term expiring.
Anderson said she and town department heads are working on the budget now and she hopes to have a budget ready by the first part of April.
