It's Hot Out! Don't Leave Your Pet in the Car!

Temperatures are rising and this post is a good reminder. Share it with your friends, family, community. Let's get the word out!!

Leaving your pet in a hot car for even a short period of time can be very dangerous. Even with all windows cracked, the temperature of a car's interior can quickly rise to deadly levels.

Pets do not sweat the way we do; they cannot cool their bodies efficiently in hot temperatures. When overheated, pets can go into shock, leading to irreversible organ failure and death.

If you see a pet in a hot car:

  • Record the vehicle information including license plate, make, model, and color.

  • Call 911 and Animal Control. Click HERE for a list of local animal control officers.

  • Alert nearby businesses to attempt to locate the owner.

  • Stay with the pet until help arrives.
