Searsport — WORKS Bookstore will host a special Knit & Spin Day Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. Hope Hoffman will perform melodic, traditional tunes on her fiddle to accompany the knitters and spinners.

Hoffman is a freelance performer, teacher and writer of dance, music and theater. With a musical style noted for its evocative beauty and rough-and-tumble playfulness, Hoffman plays fiddle and viola for contra dances, teaches fiddle lessons and also leads sessions for children's museums and festivals featuring live fiddle music, creative movement and folk dance. Her CD releases include many original compositions.

Non-knitting toe-tappers are welcome as well; there is plenty of seating and parking. Cost for the afternoon of great music and camaraderie is $5. Refreshments will be available for a small donation.

WORKS is located at 21 East Main St./Route 1, and is open Wednesdays through Sundays. For more information, call 899-5988.
