Son and Coach Wayne Doughty and grandson David after winning the Travel Soccer championship.

Hello All,

No power for two days, seemed like forever, more trees blown down, maybe when it snows we won't have to keep dealing with these outages -- get them out of the way now. I can dream, huh? I just hope it gets better. So many folks with no generator. I started the wood stove and was so hot, couldn't stand it, so let it go out, not cold enough yet for that here. I shall survive.

State champs

David Doughty and the U14 Team: Sunday officially marked the end of Winslow Travel Soccer for the Doughtys' 13 awesome seasons of soccer. No better way to go out, these boys are the D2 State Champs! Seeded No. 4, they beat the No. 1 seed Scarborough 6-1, and the No. 2 seed Kennebunk 8-2 this weekend. Thankful for the friendships the Doughty family made along the way. And to their dad, thank you to the best coach ever to all of them. They love you, Dad.

Hunters' breakfast

A public breakfast at the Freedom Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, Nov. 9, 5 a.m. A nice meal for all. Always plenty to eat. Come support them.

Hunters' supper

A public supper at the American Legion Hall in Unity on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 4:30 p.m. All kinds of goodies to eat, baked beans and all. Missing Linda and Jerry Parker this year. Raffle drawing after supper.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, 3 p.m., a Spaghetti Dinner to benefit Roland Clements at the Monroe Elementary School Cafeteria. (Marnee's husband.)

Church supper

A delicious turkey supper was prepared for the public on Saturday evening at Freedom Congregational Church. Friends Jan and Bob Smith of Florida met me there. Jan got to visit with some friends, Hazel and Myrick Cross, and Paul and Kate Flynn. Kate was busy in the kitchen. It was so good, and they had a good crowd attend. That was the last one for the season.

Happy birthday to Jacie Nickerson on Nov. 5!!! Love you.

Craft Fair time

The 30th annual Mount View High School Craft Fair will be Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. Over 150 crafters will be there. Food available, pictures with Santa.

Out of town

One of our American Legion auxiliaries is hosting a craft fair on Sunday, Nov. 24, 9 a.m. Third annual Winter Craft Fair at Emerson and Lane Post in Richmond.

100th birthday

Since this is the Veterans Day weekend edition of the paper, I want to wish Roy Ward a happy 100th birthday on Nov. 11. May you have more, Roy. Recently saw Roy and he was doing great. He will be honored on Veterans Day at the Freedom Congregational Church to celebrate his birthday. A Veterans Day program begins at 11 a.m.

Goblins and ghosts

I didn't get any goblins at all. I guess they had several places set up for the kiddoes, and a train ride in Unity, too. That is very nice.

Until next week,

I hope everyone gets power back real soon. We can be thankful it wasn't that cold yet. Stay safe and warm.

Happy to say the grandson David Doughty, age 14 made 4 goals in the Championship game on Sunday. Proud of him..That kids loves soccer, just like his three siblings.
