Knox News

By Rita Doughty | Jan 10, 2020

Hello to All,

Another week and it looks like freezing rain, snow and will make a mess. Let's hope for the best.

Off to Wisconsin

The Doughtys are off on an adventure now at Eagle River, Wisconsin. Darren, Rob, Damien and Ralph. Darren and Rob will race in the Vintage World Championship races this weekend, Jan. 10-12. They have been doing qualifying races. They visited the Eagle River Derby Snowmobile Museum.

Also there for the races are Wayne and Cody Doughty, and John and Lil John Snyer. There may have been more friends there as well. I hope the guys have good luck racing. Anyone wishing to watch can go to Speedshift TV and buy it online for the chance to see what is going on there. Exciting for sure.

Our condolences to the family of Harlen Parsons. And sympathy to the family of Justin Foster.

Newborn little girl

Congrats to parents Marcia and Joseph Reynolds on the birth of their daughter. Aurora Faith Reign Reynolds was born at 8:29 p.m. Jan. 9, 2020, weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and 19.5 inches long. She is welcomed by her siblings as well. Many congrats to all.

News from MVHS

A new Mount View Alumni Recognition. The accomplishments of previous MV graduates will encourage present-day students to reach for the stars. Nominations for the first Alumni Recognition are due to the MVHS office no later than Jan. 31. Anyone may make a nomination. For more info, requirements or application, email or call Vicki at 568-3782 for a hard copy.

All MVHS parents, and community members are invited for Coffee, Cookies and Conversation at the MVHS library Tuesday, Jan. 21, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Meet Superintendent Charles Brown. Please bring your questions, comments and concerns, and a friend, too. RSVP not required, but would help with planning. Email or call Vicki, as above. Other refreshments available as well. I wonder if the kids refer to the superintendent as Charlie Brown? All in fun.

Ice races

The Ice Oval Races in Unity on Unity Pond are being planned for Saturday, Jan. 25, 10:30 a.m. Gate will be open 7 a.m. Donations welcome at the event. Lunch wagon will be available. Sounds like fun as Mike has worked hard to get this planned.

Get everything done before Saturday night as we are going to get sleet to freezing rain. Plan to be home if you can Sunday. The power will surely be out. I hate that part. All the ice it will bring will do the damage. Stay warm and be safe.

Until next time,

Be safe out there. The weather is our concern now. I am getting older and hate this part of winter, ICE. My l and o keys keep sticking so takes forever to type this up. Never realized how much I used them, haha.

Welcome to our new Freedom correspondent, nice to see Freedom included once again.

Be well all, as nasty virus going around, people sick for three weeks or more, coughing, etc.
