Hello All,

The WellCare Rep contacted me, after many phone calls to me. Yeah, they could give me some extra benefits at no cost to me. Extra help with OTC meds, vitamins, etc. (Those I need to take.) Help to me hearing, dental and eyecare, etc. Sure, they will! I fell for it, resulting in my Medicare gone and now their wellcare to replace it. Making me PAY more than ever, co-pays, etc., that I didn't have before. I called and cancelled it all, but my prescription coverage I had before. I was better off without it, and not happy, I was not told it was going to be this way. Be aware folks, it could happen to you making matters worse for you. I couldn't believe I was in worse shape with the extras. More costly.

Unity Pond Ice Oval Races are still on for Saturday, Feb. 8, 10:30 a.m. Food and hot drinks. Parking area. Potty set up. Please do not litter. Donations welcome to help pay for the insurance cost. A FUN racing time. Vintage sleds racing.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of Leroy Stewart who has passed. He was the former owner of Unity Pharmacy, and a very nice man.

Unsafe Ice

It has been reported that the game wardens are warning that there is unsafe ice. Be aware.

It is 28 degrees now. Snow, sleet, rain results are in equals crusty snow all over everything. All shoveled out. Thanks, guys! Birds are feeding, and an occasional grey squirrel stops by for a bit. The woodpecker enjoys the suet disk. At night a fox stops to eat.

Paying It Forward

Kudos to Colby Horne at Coburn's Shoe Store for his rack of shoes to give away for those needing a pair for free or a donation. What a good deal this is. Hopefully people will support him, and buy some shoes. I am guilty of not going there myself for a long time. Time to check out his store and selections to make a purchase.

At Mammie's Restaurant in Unity for the benefit of the Mount View Chamber Singers on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 5-8 p.m. All tips and a 50/50 raffle to benefit their tour of Costa Rica in June.

Riley's Wish

On Saturday, Feb. 15, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lake St. George State Park, Riley's Wish Winter Games and Fishing Derby. Loads of fun planned for the kids to enjoy.

Until next time,

Stay safe and be warm. Beware the roads are slippery at this time. The sanding crews are out and about. Abbott Road has been discontinued just for this winter time, past Brady's place.

I am feeling much better now for those asking, thanks.
