Hello to All,

This is a dreary rainy day, but much needed as we have dry conditions. I finally got some dandelion greens, thanks to sis Marilyn who dug them for me. I did the rest. They set on quick and then are gone by. Need fiddleheads now. Yum.

Dirigo Grange

A Bake Sale is coming up on Saturday, May 8, at the Grange in Freedom, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Look for homemade pies, truffles, assorted goodies, fudge, and more. They will have baked beans and biscuits, too.

Birthdays

Happy birthday May 8 to Kevin Wood!! May 10 to Sonya Merrifield!! May 14 to Katie Doughty!! Enjoy your special days.

Thanks!

Many thanks to the Girl Scouts of Troop 1887 who raked the leaves and pine cones up at our Unity Legion Hall recently. Thanks to the leaders for bringing you. It is most appreciated by me, as when I was there last the leaves were all blown in in front of the doorway area.

Also in Unity, nice to see work being done to restore the United Methodist Church. I miss hearing the bells toll passing through.

Sympathy

My sympathy to the family of Kathleen "Kate" Hanbury. Years ago in 1990 I worked with her on the census as we had to go visit those who never submitted their Census Form. It was lots of fun really. She would get some grumpy person, and I never did. I never forgot it. Makes me smile now thinking back.

Where's the beef?

From Kevin Daly of Daly's Family Farm here in Knox for the Regional School Unit 3 school nutrition program. He just delivered recently.

More RSU 3

The school nutrition program. What do the cooks do on Friday, a remote day? From scratch they bake 500 muffins, 40 dozen yeast rolls, and 100 pizzas to feed students for next week. That sounds yummy to me. They also work on Fridays for students who get to bring home meals for the weekend. Need info, contact Tina Fabian at 568-4607.

Fowler barbecue and fundraiser

It was a success. All barbecued chicken sold out within an hour. Donations are still being accepted at Bangor Savings Bank. The barbecue was very good. If you waited to go, you missed out. Thanks to ALL who helped!! A big thanks to Lori Grant for heading this all up. Good luck to Stephen on his new home soon.

My Sister and I

At 29 Depot St. in Thorndike, the ladies have Memorial Arrangements and lots more in the store. They are opening Saturday, May 1, for the season, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Contact info: 568-3617.

Ticks

Am hearing they are out and real bad. Beware for your kids and pets. Some are so tiny you can barely see them.

Good Land Pottery

This business is located on my road, but at the Montville end at 487 Morse Road. She has new berry bowls, and also mugs in black and white. Looking at her Facebook post, I saw many other things -- lamps, bowls, dishes, and candlesticks too. For info call 508-237-4343.

For your Info

Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere. Be happy, be safe and be kind!

Until next week,

Tryouts are on for the Farm Team Baseball kids' season and T-Ball. Contact Coach Kevin Richards at 249-2918.

Take care, all.
