Happy Fourth of July to Everyone !!!

The rain forecasts and the Tropical Storm Arthur on it's way up the Coast forced cancellations of Parades, events, and many outings. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate with us. The Brooks Parade went on as planned. Winslow is tomorrow on Saturday.

POSTPONED FROM July 4th to SUNDAY July 6th here in Knox.

The Horse Pulling Events that were scheduled for today the 4th Have been Postponed until Sunday because of our Rainy stormy weather. Clayton Larrabee gave me the word tonight, so I am posting so you will know the schedule. Sunday Morning 7 am Open for business. Come and watch the Horse Pulling activities. Other events as well. Strawberry Picking

April and Randy went and picked strawberries at Raven's for me. Gabe, and his baby brother Myrek stayed with me. We had fun. We all went to Bell The Cat for lunch on their way home. Gabe had been visiting here for over a week They spent Monday night. Up early to pick berries. Thanks for the berries. .Time just flies by. Made Jam, hope it sets...


Our sincere condolences to the family of Coral Furrow who passed recently. She was our Town's oldest citizen. She will be missed by all who knew her. She loved to make mittens for the children. I gave her a lot of yarn to help her out.


Our sincere condolences to the family of Boyd Ward who passed on  June 30th. He was married to my school mate, Sandra Clark Ward. Thinking of his wife, and family. He used to live in Freedom. Rest In Peace.

Welcome Home Soldiers !

The 133rd Soldiers came home this week after serving in Afghanistan for 11 months. There were 150 plus soldiers returning. There were many family members, and friends to Welcome them back at the Augusta Civic Center. Welcome to Holly and Andrew Parker.

5th Annual Bowenfest and Greg Bowen Memorial  Ride

On Aug.2nd the ride will take place at Bowen's Tavern. Starts at 8 am, Kickstands up at 10 am. A fun filled day and many events. Come join in, and get something to eat. The event will help Tammy Leeman Shaw who is battling cancer.

Country Gold Warm Waldo Benefit

This benefit will help Tanya Hubbard's Warm Waldo heating project to keep folks warm this coming winter with heating fuel. Aug. 2nd Jackson Community Center.  3-12 pm. Hopefully there is four Bands scheduled to play at the dance. Can't dance ??, well come and listen to the music. Chicken BBQ by the Freedom Firefighters. Preorder for BBQ by July 25th. Contact Lisa or Rob on Facebook. There is camper and tent rental spots available.

Knox Grange Monthly Supper

The Menu for this month's Public Supper at Knox Station Grange July 19th 4:30-6 pm is Baked Ham and all the trimmings. Adults $7.00. Come support our Grange. Thanks !! Delicious meal, and you don't have to cook. Let Agnes and her helpers cook for you..

Coming Event

In Belfast July 26th at 11 am at  Belfast Harbor a Michael Jackson Flash Mob.

Fund Raiser July 26 also at Bowen's Tavern for Cassandra and Fred Thompson. Please help these young folks who were seriously hurt in the Motorcycle accident. They have two little children.

Saturday Events

4th of July Horse pulling is Saturday July 5th at Clayton's place. Changed  date because of storm forecast.

Unity Raceway

Races at 8 pm.on July 5th. There will be Fireworks too !!! Around 9:30 pm, I believe.This was all cancelled, until further notice.

Winslow Parade will be 10 am on Sat. July 5th .Fireworks in the evening around 9 pm.--or so...perhaps a little later..... Let's hope for good weather.


On Thursday I had lunch at China Way with Mable and Eddie Metivier in Newport. It was yummy. Had a nice visit.


Some people braved the weather anyway and went camping. Stay dry, and have loads of fun.

Special Birthday Lady

I am sending Happy Birthday Wishes to Lillian Bishop who will celebrate her 102 nd Birthday on July 18..She would love to receive birthday cards, so let's all send her a card. Her address is 158 Bishop Rd. Troy, Me. 04987 Happy Happy Birthday Lillian!!! You are an inspiration to all of us. May you have many more.


I notice that the Gardens are growing. I have managed to get beet greens yellow squash, zucchini squash, and  another striped squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, and strawberries. The Amish have a good variety of fresh veggies to choose from. Curra's Farm Stand had beet greens, and strawberries available. ( Dry beans as well. ) More coming soon.

Coming On July 19 and 20th. 3rd Annual Pulls

Horse and Oxen Pulls,.at Larrabee's Field. Presented by Knox Historical Society. Gate opens at 7 am. 7-9 am  weigh in. Saturday- All Game Horse Show. Horse Pulls...Sunday- Oxen Pulls ....Kids events. 4 pm Pig Scramble. Concession open both days. Info : 568-3475. Much more...

Enjoy our summer days. I, for one do not like the humid weather, but I like it warm out. Thank goodness I got the air conditioner installed in the window. Thanks Randy !!

THe days go by so fast, get out and enjoy yourself. Stop and say Hello to a friend or neighbor, or family. People can be gone in the blink of an eye, you never know because tomorrow is not promised. Have a great week folks !!
