KNOX TOWN NEWS

By Rita Doughty | May 11, 2018

Hello Folks,

Another week has passed by. I am dealing with my sciatic nerve acting up, and it is not fun at all. Not in a good mood as some of you found out, sorry. The heating pad helped a lot.The dandelions are so good, but getting big fast. I have had fiddleheads thanks to two people getting them for me. I am in no shape to pick them at this time. This old age stuff is not what I  expected either. Oh well, carry on. Those scammer calls are getting so frequent that I am tempted to change my phone number, but hate to. I must call the phone company and see if anyway to block them, day and night gets to be a little much. I am sure otherś are dealing with this too, but do not give them your financial info, as they are out to rob you. The last one wanted me to send them an itunes care, really !! It is crazy what they will do to get our money.

Save Our Loons

Another loon poisoned with lead at Avian Haven. Fishing lead free is better for lakes and wildlife. Ingested lead fishing tackle is the leading cause of death for adult common loons of which there are around 4500 adults across the State. Keeping lead sinkers out of the Maine waters increase the survival of these birds and allow for population growths of this species across the Northeast. Effective Sept. 2017 the use of bare lead jigs not meeting the length ( 2.5  inches) and of weight ( 1 Oz.) requirements will be prohibited.
