Hello Folks,

Well the weather has still been rainy, and cold I think, some sun at times. Boy, weather sure is crazy, hates to be nice for us now. People want to plant, but it seems pretty cool unless you can cover the plants. But what do I know.

My barrels still not planted yet. Just picked a lilac branch to bring in the house as I simply love the fragrance of them. They are late blooming as well. Saw a woodchuck, hope he travels on. I don't need his company.

Have not seen any turkeys as Saturday was last day to hunt them, I think. No list of who got one at the local store as it has to be done online, takes too much time for someone to do this, so discontinued to tag them. Certainly can understand this. Happy spring, I hope for all.

Friends in area

My friend Jan Smith and her friend Bernadette Burd from Florida are here in Maine. Jan has property on North Ridge Road in Montville. I hope they are enjoying this area this time of year. Good luck, and be safe. Hope to see you soon.

Loss of Auxiliary friend

A friend of mine I met in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 205 Augusta has passed away. Deborah Grey Rhodes was severely injured in a vehicle accident on Tuesday in Warren, with her grandson and driver Lu Lamoreau. She passed away in Portland at the hospital there. May she rest in peace. Get well wishes for her grandson and Lu. Sympathy to her family and friends. One never knows what each day will bring. Hug those you love, and tell them you love them.

Award

Junior Assembly at Winslow High School on Thursday, and Katie Doughty received an award. I never did see what it was all about, as she was at school and I left for appointments. Anyway, congrats to you, Katie. We all love you. Sara graduates on Wednesday, June 6th, from Winslow.

Church supper

If you didn't make the supper at Freedom Congregational Church Saturday night, you missed a good ham supper. It was delicious. Of course I ate too much. Everything looked so good, how could you resist it.

Freedom meeting

On June 11th the Freedom residents will vote to recall or not Selectmen Ron Price and Steve Bennett. This is a surprise to me. They are having an informational meeting about this before hand, Thursday, June 6.

Knox Bicentennial

Get your T-shirts for this event that will happen in July at the Town Office. $10 each. A booklet is in the works. Wooden nickels and more. A postal envelope mark from the Post Office. A Craft Fair tent and tables to rent. Freedom Fire Department will be handling the Chicken Barbecue. At the Joy Valley Riders Ring will be a horse show. A parade. Keep tuned for more info. Get into the action with the 200th anniversary of our town. More info at Town Office.

Birthdays

Happy birthday to you if you are celebrating your special day.

School days

Longtime bus driver and worker for Regional School Unit 3 Edwin Larrabee was honored with a get-together on Friday. He has retired. Pictures were on Facebook by Cindy Ludden. Looked like a fun time.

Prom time

Gabriel Doughty sporting his tux and girlfriend Reese Brown in her red gown attended their prom at Narraguagus High School Saturday evening. They looked pretty sharp, and am sure they had a great time. They grow up too fast.

Convention time

June 7 and 8 is the American Legion and Auxiliary Convention in Bangor, held at Jeff's Catering off I-395, exit 5.

Until next week,

Stay safe, keep warm, the weather hopefully warms up very soon. I had dandelion greens recently. Enough to make me happy.
