Belfast — A large crowd attended the inaugural Belfast Ukulele Picnic June 7 at Steamboat Landing.

The event began with an 11 a.m. introduction and was followed by performances from various ukulele clubs hailing from places such as Machias, Blue Hill, Farmington and Belfast, beginning at noon. The day-long festivities ended with a 6:30 p.m. concert headlined by Dos Eckies, Jim & Liz Beloff and the Edukated Fleas.

There also were three free workshops including one for advanced beginners and for both jazz and chord melody.
