Liz Stanley of UMaine Cooperative Extension will discuss invasive plants in a free talk Feb. 26 at Belfast Free Library.

Belfast — Invasive plants are proliferating in natural and developed areas of Midcoast Maine, and you can learn more about what to watch for at a free public program, jointly sponsored by Belfast Garden Club and Belfast Free Library, on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Liz Stanley, who works for University of Maine Cooperative Extension, will describe how to identify and control detrimental invasive plants and how native plants can play an important role in restoring disturbed ecosystems.

In her work with Cooperative Extension, Stanley supports home and school gardeners in Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties. She also works for Lee Schneller Fine Gardens and grows trees, shrubs flowers and vegetables with her family in Warren.

The program will be held in the Abbott Room of the library at 106 High St. For more information, call the library at 338-3884, ext. 10.
