Library to offer MakerSpace 'How To' media series

Sep 30, 2019

Belfast — Want to learn how to record and edit audio or video? How about creating a newsletter, poster, or multimedia family history? These are all things that you can do at the MakerSpace at the Belfast Free Library, 106 High St.

The library will offer a series of introductory sessions to teach basic media technology skills. Sessions will be led by Jim Campbell, host of Notes from the Electronic Cottage on WERU Radio and Partner in Modular Media, using equipment available in the MakerSpace.

The first two sessions will be offered Wednesdays, Oct. 16 and 23, at 6 p.m. in the conference room on the third floor of the library. They will focus on basic audio recording (Oct. 16) and basic audio editing (Oct. 23). No prior experience is required.

Whether recording audio for use in a family history project, as part of a video production, making a new ringtone for a smartphone, or creating a podcast, getting the best quality sound is important. Subsequent editing of that sound recording so it has the desired effect on the audience requires knowledge and attention to sound quality. Improve your skills with these free sessions.

Space is limited. Reserve a spot by calling 338-3884, ext. 25, or email spietryka@belfastlibray.org.
