David Barrows

Lincolnville — A 64-year-old Lincolnville man died Sunday evening when the tractor he was driving rolled over onto him.

David Barrows was using the tractor to harvest firewood. He was alone when the accident occurred on property on High Street. A family member found him.

The Knox County Communications Center received the call at about 7 p.m. Sept. 13 and the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, Lincolnville fire and emergency medical services were notified.

The body was taken to the Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast.

Barrows served on the Lincolnville Board of Selectmen from 2011 through 2014 and then has served since 2016, last being re-elected in 2019 for a three-year term.

This is beyond awful on so many levels.

This leaves a moral vacuum in the heart of Lincolnville that the less informed have no way of knowing.

Dave was the moral compass of Lincolnville, and that compass has now lost it's bearing.

My sincerest prayers are for Dave's family, and the people of Lincolnville.

There's an old saying "Them that dies is the lucky ones."

In the case of Dave, and what he leaves in the Town Hall, one must wonder if that's not ultimately the case...

Dave, you left just in the nick of time.

Rest in peace gentle soul.

He really cared about the Town and approached that work as thoughtfully as he did helping us all at Rankins.  What a sad loss.

Had a wonderful conversation with him just last week. Always so helpful and giving with his advice.

Rankins will not be the same without him.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. Holding Dave’s family in my heart. He was a wonderful person and community member and will be deeply missed.

So very, very sad.  David gave so much time to this Town, as do you Keryn Laite, and I know you worked together on many issues.  Know you will miss him as will we all.

I am completely speechless and heartbroken. My thoughts and prayers are with my friend David's family throughout this trying time. The town of Lincolnville has lost a great person.
