Lineup set for Belfast Poetry Festival later this month

BELFAST — The Belfast Poetry Festival announces the lineup for the evening Poetry, Performance and Visual Arts Multimedia Show to be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Troy Howard Middle School, 173 Lincolnville Ave.

The 2019 featured poets and artists selected for the Saturday night Collaborative Showcase includes poet Mark Melnicove and artist Abby Shahn; poet Timothy Liu and artist Matthew Shelton; poet Michelle Menting and artist Christine Higgins; poet Arisa White and artist Carolina González Valencia​; poet Lisa Panepinto and artist Andy Mauery; poet Kristen Case and artist Ann Bartges; poet Samaa Abdurraqib and artist Ashley Normal; and poet Alisha Goldblatt and artist Hilary Irons.

Now in its 15th year, the Belfast Poetry Festival will be held Oct. 18 and 19 in various venues around town. The festival will kick off Friday night at 7 p.m. with a reading at Left Bank Books with Maine Poet Laureate Stuart Kestenbaum. Saturday events at festival headquarters at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Miller Street will include a Ploughman’s lunch, Belfast Bay Fiddlers, a lit fair and an open mic.
