Lions, Mariners, Windjammers prevail in Sept. 7 links play

Mount View, Medomak Valley come up short

The five Midcoast high school golf squads were in action — four of which squared off against one another — on Thursday, Sept. 7. In the end, the squads experienced a mixed bag of results.

Oceanside posted a 7-2 home win over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, while Camden Hills remained unbeaten with a 9-0 road win over Mount View of Thorndike.

Belfast also edged Medomak Valley 5.5 to 3-5 in a home match in Northport. The match between the Lions and Panthers was tight throughout as the hosts prevailed by two swings in the four-golfer stroke total.

The following is a recap of reported results:

Oceanside 7, Lincoln Academy 2

At Rockland Golf Club Sept. 7, the Mariners sailed past the visiting Eagles. Oceanside won with a four-golfer stroke total of 204 to 221 for Lincoln Academy.

The individual results, with Oceanside golfers listed first, were: Abe Lemole (47) beat Basel White (53), 3+1; Aiden Andrews (56) lost to Len Wall (55), 2+1; Carter Fogarty (50) beat Aiden McCullan (57), 2+1; Darik Johnson (51) beat Dawson Wall (65), 3+2; Trevor Lawry (59) lost to Damon Crommett (57), 1-up; and Teddy Hallett (59) beat Andrew Greenleaf (72), 4+3.

Lemole was the medalist with 47.

Belfast 5.5, Medomak Valley 3.5

At Northport Golf Club Sept. 7, the Lions roared to their third win in five tries — this time over the Panthers. Belfast edged Medomak Valley with a four-golfer stroke total of 202 to 204.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Brent Stewart (47) beat Tommy Walker (47), 3+2; Carson Murphy (45) beat Alexia Sweet (54), 4+2; Sean Sebrey (51) beat Artem Richter (48), 1-up; Merritt Gould (63) halved with Chance Clark (62); Natalie Stewart (61) lost to Hunter Simmons (60), 2+1; and Zackery Benner (91) lost to Antoine Brunette (53), 5+4.

Murphy was the medalist at 45.

In exhibition/jayvee matches, Leighton Winslow (68) lost to Madison Hemingway (54), 4+2; and Maverick Young (66) lost to Kristina Walker (59), 3+2.

Camden Hills 9, Mount View 0

At Country View Golf Course in Brooks Sept. 7, the undefeated Windjammers made quick work of the winless Mustangs. Camden Hills won with a four-golfer stroke total of 163 to 217 for Mount View.

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: Cole Anderson (33) beat Jordan Roux (51), Braden Fisher (43) beat Jacob Rose (48), Connor O’Dwyer (44) beat John Clifford (65), Sam Conlan (48) beat Lucas Ford (61), Jonathan Mohoney (48) beat Chance Roberts (57) and Drew Minery (52) won by forfeit over Mount View.

Anderson was the medalist at 33.
