Winterport — The 50th annual presentation of the Winterport Live Nativity Pageant will take place Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15 and 16, promptly at 7 p.m. in front of the historic Union Meeting House on Main Street/Route 1A.

Members of the Winterport community, along with six local churches, come together to present the outdoor pageant each year. The children of Winterport and surrounding communities are the actors; the only speaking part is the Narrator, an adult. Farm animals add to the story’s setting.

Winterport's Live Nativity Pageant is just 12 minutes long and attendees should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early, as Route 1A will be closed and traffic diverted. Attendees also are advised to bring flashlights, since the streetlights will be turned off.

This year’s pageant is dedicated to the countless numbers of volunteers who have made this wonderful tradition a holiday staple in our community, said longtime organizers Lynda and Dean El-Hajj. In honor of all those who have volunteered, behind the scenes and on the hill, there will be a "fill the hill" photo op immediately following the pageant we are planning a photo opportunity. Anyone who has participated, or wished to have, is invited to stand in the spot on the hill representing their favorite role.
