Belfast — Lupine Cottage, a Maine artists' cooperative on Route 1 in East Belfast, recently celebrated its new front porch — and thanked the volunteers who built it — with a ribbon-cutting and refreshments.

Artisan Margaret Masessa and her granddaughter cut the ribbon May 24. To mark the start of its 16th year, the co-op held a birthday celebration June 14, complete with entertainment by Scot Cannon.

Lupine currently offers the work of 44 Maine artists from Kittery to Down East and west to Greenville, including needlework, knitwear, leather goods, photography, note cards, jewelry, wood, and oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings.

Lupine is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
