Main Street Bucksport announces round two of Bucks' Bucks

Nov 17, 2020

Bucksport — Main Street Bucksport has announced round two of the Bucks’ Bucks for the winter months.

Last week, the Bucksport Town Council voted to contribute $10,000 from the “Pay It Forward” fund created by Andy and Shelby Silvernail to jump-start the next matching fund. MSB is working to match that amount so it can re-launch the program with a healthy matching fund balance.

"If you or your business have been able to operate at a mostly normal financial level during the pandemic, we want to encourage you to make a donation to the matching fund," MSB said in a press release Nov. 17. Donations can be made online at www.mainstreetbucksport.org or by mailing a check made out to the Bucks' Bucks Fund to P.O. Drawer P, Bucksport, ME 04416.

"If, however, your Bucksport-based business has been negatively impacted, we invite you to sign up to participate and accept Bucks," the announcement said. Sign up at mainstreetbucksport.org. It's free and simple to do.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 20, Bucks’ Bucks will be sold in $10 increments and are good for $20 at participating businesses for goods, services or gift certificates. No change will be given. Bucks will be sold on Tuesdays and Fridays only until the matching funds are depleted.

To purchase Bucks by check, contact Brook at 479-3933. No cash will be accepted.

Bucks can also be used to make donations to participating nonprofits. A list of participating businesses and organizations can be found on the Main Street Bucksport website. Purchased Bucks will be mailed to you. Pick up at the Main Street office is unavailable at this time. MSB asks that people honor a $50 per week per household limit.
