Lee Emmons, a newspaper columnist and nature presenter, is offering a two-hour Zoom course on common Maine backyard birds.

Sponsored by RSU 13 Adult & Community Education, this course will explore frequently encountered backyard birds, bird feeding tips, as well as the basics of bird conservation. Given historic and alarming bird declines, course participants will learn new tools to help our avian neighbors weather the years to come.

The course is from 4 to 6 p.m. June 22.

A graduate of Colby College and the University of New England, Emmons writes the popular Backyard Wildlife column in The Lincoln County News. A resident of Newcastle, he is involved in local wildlife conservation issues.
