Maine Democratic Socialists endorse Savage for Senate

Sep 15, 2020

The Maine chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America have voted overwhelmingly to endorse independent Green Lisa Savage’s candidacy for the U.S. Senate. According to a press release from her campaign, Savage "is proud to earn it, as the Maine DSA has shown itself to be a force for equity, for getting money out of politics, and for empowering people in their workplaces."

“With our campaign, we are building a coalition of people who care about the working people of Maine and the United States, first and foremost," Savage said. "We are united in creating a more equitable society, where housing, health care, and a way to make a living are human rights and guaranteed for all.”

Savage has previously endorsed the Maine DSA’s People First Portland campaign, which has put five ballot initiatives in front of Portland voters this fall. These seek to protect tenants’ rights, raise the minimum wage to $15, ban the use of facial recognition software, restrict short-term rentals, and initiate citywide reforms to address the climate crisis.

“Our campaigns are aligned,” Savage said, “in ensuring that we are creating a society where everyone gets a fair shake. These kinds of common sense reforms will help to create a Maine where people know that their work has real value and will result in the ability to house and feed themselves with dignity.”

Savage has also received endorsements from former Democratic Senate Candidate Bre Kidman, former Chief of the Penobscot Nation Barry Dana, the Maine Green Independent Party, former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, and others.

Yes, please "hold your nose" and do vote for Gideon as #2.   Of course, do not put in ANY vote for Collins.

That is how Ranked Choice Voting works -- vote ONLY for people you would want to see elected, and RANK them in order of preference: # 1, #2.

Same for president: Vote someone else #1, and "hold your nose" for Biden at #2, and do not put in ANY vote for Trump.

Vote Smart, and Vote early (there will be lines, maybe long ones, with social-distancing.

Maine Democratic Socialists: please rank Sara Gideon #2. Lisa Savage and the DSA platform are what I prefer, too. However, failing to rank Gideon as #2 will be a vote for the Collins --> McConnell/Trump regime.

Thanks,

Bob Morrison
