Make Shift Coffee House set for Oct. 9

Sep 29, 2019

Belfast — Waldo County residents are invited to a Make Shift Coffee House event Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Troy Howard Middle School. The topic will be “What are American Values?" The event is free and light snacks and music will be provided.

This will be the first of a three part series, with the second event Nov. 6 in Searsmont and the third Dec. 4 in Searsport. For details, visit makeshiftcoffeehouse.com.

Waldo County residents are asked to complete a survey before the first event to assess the "civility" climate in our community and there will be another follow-up survey after the series. The survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/KCDMZ6V. Responses are optional and are not an attendance requirement; they will be used to evaluate the community on these issues.

Founded and facilitated by Craig Freshley of Brunswick, Make Shift Coffee House is a venue where people of all political persuasions come together in a relaxed coffee house-like atmosphere to discuss diverse issues and listen to and understand each other's opinions and perspectives. Frequently, unique conversations unfold and opportunities for "civil" discussions arise.
