For Oceanside, Mackie tallies 27 points, Ames 16 in home, road victories

The Oceanside and Mount View basketball teams squared off in a pair of matinees to start February break on Monday, Feb. 15, as the Mariners emerged from their high school frays with victories.
The Mariner girls held court in Rockland and emerged with a 47-27 win over the Mustangs in the 10 a.m. morning game, while the boys hit the road for a 2 p.m. mid-afternoon contest in Thorndike and collected a 61-46 victory.

Thus far this season, the Oceanside girls are 8-0 and Mariner boys 7-1. For the Mustangs, the boys are 6-4 and girls 4-6.
The following is a recap of Monday's games:
Girls
Oceanside 47, Mount View 27
At Rockland Feb. 15, the Mariners slowly pulled away from the Mustangs in the second half and bested the visitors by 20 points. Oceanside led 7-6, 23-18 and 34-25 at the quarter breaks.
Audrey Mackie poured in a game-high 27 points for the Mariners, while Ahlivia Morris added seven; Abby Waterman, six; Grace Woodman, five; and Emily Sykes, two.
Waterman also pulled down 13 rebounds in the victory, while Sykes grabbed six and Woodman and Morris five. Woodman added three steals and three assists, while Mackie and Morris made three steals. Anna Kingsbury also grabbed three caroms.
Hannah Coolen led Mount View with nine points, while Hannah Ferriera added eight; Kricket Thompson, seven; and Madison Roux, three.
Oceanside was 9-of-12 (75 percent) from the charity stripe, while Mount View was 10-of-24 (42 percent).
Boys
Oceanside 61, Mount View 46
At Thorndike Feb. 15, the Mariners sailed past the Mustangs to a 15-point victory. Oceanside led 11-10, 33-26 and 44-36 at the quarter breaks.
Bodhi Ames keyed Oceanside with 16 points, while Everett Allyn added 12; Cam Kingsbury and Elliot Lucier, 10; Carter Galley, five; Gavyn Tower, four; and Cohen Galley and Nate Coombs, two.
Joe Grassi paced Mount View with 14 points, while Noah Hurd and Declan Knowlton tallied 10; Wyatt Evensen, five; Tyler Russell, four; and Draedyn Furrow, three.
The Mariners netted 10-of-18 free throws (56 percent) and Mustangs 3-of-10 (30 percent).
