Marjorie Hutchings

Marjorie C. Hutchings died Oct. 26, 2017, in Belfast. She was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Meredith N.H., the daughter of Harold and Corrine Felker.

Marge graduated from Amherst High School in 1940. She went on to attend University of New Hampshire before graduating from Bennetts Private Secretarial School in Springfield, Mass. She married her high school sweetheart Herbert C. Hutchings Jr. on May 23, 1942. They moved in 1965 during a snowstorm to Lincolnville and Maine is where, she always said, “I finally started living my life.”

Marjorie served as a Maine Legislator from 1974 to 1982. For years, she sold real estate in the Midcoast area. She was awarded realtor of the year before her retirement at 87. While working as a realtor, she made many life-long friends, whom she cherished throughout the years.

Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband Herbert C. Hutchings Jr., sister Phyllis Grocott and brother John Davenport.

She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Edwards of New Hampshire and Joan Richter of Colorado; children, Diane and Timothy Terry of Prospect and Michael and Lynn Hutchings of Lincolnville; grandchildren, David and Dian Terry of Prospect, Melissa and Vern Thompson of Stockton Springs, Patrick Hutchings and Jack Hill of Sarasota, Fla., and Lindsey Hutchings and Jeremy Danforth of Sandy Point; great- grandchildren, Abigail and Colby Terry of Prospect, Tristan Thompson of Stockton Springs, and her “little girl” Emily Danforth of Sandy Point.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m., at Lincolnville Center Church.
