Belfast — Belfast Maskers' festive 30th anniversary season continues with a production of “On Golden Pond,” opening Friday night, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. in the First Church UCC’s Parish Hall, 8 Court St.

“On Golden Pond” is a funny and bittersweet story about the complex, deeply felt ties binding one American family together. The tranquility of the idyllic Golden Pond, where Ethel and Norman Thayer have spent the past 48 summers, is about to be broken by the arrival of their daughter and her entourage.   As the Maine summer days grow short, there is still time for their family to heal … and to rediscover the joys in everyday life. Love, family and the passage of time intertwine in Ernest Thompson's Tony Award-winning play.

The Belfast Maskers' production of “On Golden Pond” is directed by Meg Nickerson, and the set is designed by Gary Hinte. The cast features includes Sunny Kirkham as Ethel, Brian Ross as Norman, Beverly Smith as Chelsea, Jim Tatgenhorst as Bill, Finn Tarbox as Billy Jr. and Mark Durbin as Charlie.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., Oct. 6 through 15. Tickets, $15 or $10 for students and senior citizens, can be purchased at the door or online at belfastmaskers.com. For more information, call 536-9123.

Courier Publications’ A&E Editor Dagney C. Ernest can be reached at (207) 594-4401, ext. 115; or dernest@courierpublicationsllc.com.
