McDonald finishes first in men's league at Country View

Brooks — The following is the weekly news from the Country View Golf Club:

The final standings are official and Kyle McDonald has been crowned the Country View Golf Club's Friday men's league champion for 2017.

McDonald finished first with a total of 2,037.5 points, followed by Mike Cunningham with 1,600. John Cushman and Gary Snowden tied for third at 1,537.5, followed by Wayne Merrifield, Bob Lee, Clair McDonald, Vince Bryant, Ross DeLorenzo, Ted McDonald, Bob Hooper, Mike Newell, John Merry and Bill Heroux Choppah.

The season concluded on Friday night with a spaghetti dinner and presentation of awards.

On Friday, Sept. 29, in the final week of men's league play (points in relation to quota), the top five were: 1, Gary Snowden, +3; 2, Bob Hooper, +1 and 3, Kyle McDonald, Bob Lee, Ted McDonald and Bill Heroux Choppah, tied at all even. The pin winners were: John Cushman, 27-0 on the fourth hole; and Gary Snowden, 6-10 on the ninth.

On Thursday, Sept. 28, in a women's scramble, Jean Raven, Joette Fields and Nancy Blatz finished first at 36, with 10 putts: Henna Smith, Judy Arsenault and Donna Short, second at 37, with 12 putts; and Sharon Todd, Doris Cowell and Donna Nason, third at 38, with 15 putts. The pin winners were: Sharon Todd, 10-3 on the fourth; and Doris Cowell, 20-8 on the ninth.
