‘Metropolis’ with music, at Colonial

Belfast — Les Sorciers Perdus will perform Mark Tipton’s original silent film score for Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis” (1927, Germany) Sunday, April 30, at 4 p.m. at the Colonial Theatre, 163 High St.

This score has been performed for audiences in southern Maine, and Les Sorciers Perdus are excited to present it to a Midcoast audience Musicians include Tipton on trumpet and keyboard; Tracy McMullen on saxes and flute; Don Pride on guitar; Tyler Heydolph on bass; and Peter McLaughlin on drums. The program runs approximately 2.5 hours, plus a short intermission in the middle.

Parental discretion is advised, as some content may not be suitable for young children. The German Expressionist science fiction classic tells the story of a dystopian future divided by class … and of a heroine and hero determined to restore justice and harmony, despite all odds. Epic in size and scope, “Metropolis” paved the way for countless sci-fi films to come, influencing movies by George Lucas, Ridley Scott and many more.
